AUTUMNESS

"Who knew that Walsall Arboretum would host such a plethora of autumn colour? A random stop one weekend and a zig-zag walkabout exploring all the different shades of red, orange, yellow and green to find a nice way to present it all. As compact as this little patch of land in the West Midlands is there's so many opportunities to see the colour change this time of year. I imagine most users of the space consider it to be just a park and miss the hard work that's gone into its creation
There's lots I love about this composition that help explain why I've included it in the shop. I love the shadow work - it was an evening shoot and the sun was low, casting shadow along the ground which was of course covered in red leaves. I tried to get as much colour in the frame as possible, and in doing so managed to present the greens at the forefront of the image, the reds and oranges in the middle and the background layers are mostly yellows - a bit of luck, but it really works."
