POPEYE

"I'm quite the opportunist when it comes to my photography. I rarely plan a shoot and always try to have my camera gear in the back of my car in case I see something I want to capture.
Driving the back-roads down from the windy heights of Titterstone Cleehill one December I saw the silhouette of this tree and the fading light reflecting off the crop in the field and had to investigate. Capturing this moment with these dense clouds hiding the setting sun so the spinach was highlighted is something I will never see again. And not something I've seen before.
Parking precariously, almost in the hedge on the lane, I wondered into the field and found my vantage point. No tripod in-tow that day meant I had to activate the trusted Sony Ibis (In-Body Image Stabilisation), crouch low and with a steady hand activate the shutter between my heartbeats and my breaths to get a sharp enough picture in such low light. This practice always reminds me of the military snipers you see in the movies. But as you can see, it seems to work"
